TrianGraphics Signs Partnership Agreement With VT MÄK

Adds Support for VR-Vantage and VR-Forces to Trian3D Builder

Cambridge, Mass., September 2, 2009 — VT MÄK, (MÄK), a company of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) and TrianGraphics GmbH have announced that they have signed a partnership agreement. As part of this agreement, the latest version of TrianGraphics’ Train3D Builder will support MÄK’s 3D visualization solution, VR-Vantage as well as VR-Forces, MÄK’s computer generated forces toolkit. VR-Forces support is provided via Trian3D Builder’s GDB Export module.

Trian3D Builder is a database generation system for detailed 3D terrains of all sizes. It enables users to create large-scale terrain areas for real time applications based on image, height and vector data in a matter of hours. The GDB Export module supports the rapid creation of terrain databases for use in VR-Forces and is fully correlated to the OpenFlight terrain format.

VR-Vantage is MÄK’s 3D visualization solution. It consists of the next generation MÄK Stealth, MÄK’s 3D information station; Vantage IG, a desktop image generator for viewing out-the-window scenes; and the VR-Vantage toolkit to extend the included visual applications or build new applications. It offers a rich set of partner content from companies like DiSTI and Boston Dynamics. One of its key features is Terrain Agility. With Terrain Agility, VR-Vantage does not have a single “native” format for terrain data.  It can load traditional hand-modeled databases, Geographical Information System source data, and connect to web-based servers for streaming elevation and imagery data.

VR-Forces is MÄK’s software toolkit for generating and executing battlefield scenarios. It can be used as a tactical leadership trainer, threat generator, behavior model testbed, or computer generated forces application. VR-Forces customers include BAE Systems Communication, Navigation, Identification and Reconnaissance, the Thales Watchkeeper UAV program, and Raytheon’s DD(G) 1000 program.

Today our customers are not only asking for a comprehensive feature set, but also for fast workflow and simple tool chains. Pairing VR-Vantage and Trian3D Builder saves users from, conversion issues and wasting time waiting for slow loading and paging of large databases. This simplified and flexible approach reduces overall costs and saves time, so customers can focus on their job – building simulations.

Stephan KUSSMAUL
Managing Director, TrianGraphics GmbH

As VR-Vantage and Trian3D Builder are two of the premiere commercial products built on OpenSceneGraph, a partnership between our two companies was natural. With Terrain Agility MÄK is working to reduce the frustration our customer’s experience from expensive, time-consuming, and uncorrelated terrain production. Trian3D Builder further simplifies the often onerous terrain building process. With this partnership, customers have even more options for rapidly creating correlated terrains for VR-Vantage and VR-Forces.
