ST Electronics Showcases Gantryless ERP & Telematics Solution @ Intelligent Transport Systems Asia-Pacific Forum & Exhibition, Singapore

Singapore, 12 July 2008 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) will demonstrate its Next Generation ERP & Telematics Solution as part of its world-class Intelligent Transport System (ITS) at the Intelligent Transport Systems, Asia-Pacific Forum & Exhibition at Suntec Convention Centre (14 – 16 July 2008).

ST Electronics will be showcasing its Next Generation ERP & Telematics Solution which facilitates a gantryless, cashless and cardless system for the convenience of road users and transport authorities.  This new solution will be integrated as part of a Telematics Service Hub aimed at innovating a new motoring experience for road users.  Adopting new technologies and our experience in ITS and Telematics solutions, ST Electronics provides an integrated Telematics end-to-end solution to offer a wide variety of services to motorists through intelligent access devices installed in vehicles.  The Telematics Service Hub provides flexible and unlimited collaborative opportunities for the consumer, government and commercial sectors. This solution has great potential for deployment in modern cities and countries.

Having won the inaugural Land Transport Excellence Award 2008 Most Innovative Partner (Technology) for its i-Transport solution, ST Electronics is well positioned to understand and provide proven solutions in intelligent transportation.

Transport authorities will be able to develop new transport strategies and provide useful services more effectively with one platform for multi-use transport applications such as:

  • Implementation of the next generation ERP & Telematics solution
  • Reaches out to travellers more easily and effectively
  • Strengthens transportation security
  • Improves traffic information collection and dissemination
  • Promotes the virtual and multiple payment modes transport services

Next Generation ERP Solution & Telematics Service Hub

ST Electronics’ next generation ERP Solution facilitates gantryless, cashless and cardless features for the convenience of road users and transport authorities. Based on the latest technology in GPS and IP-based communication network, this solution is further integrated with our Telematics Service Hub to extend a wide range of Telematics services to motorists via intelligent access devices installed in vehicles. The Telematics Service Hub also provides flexible and unlimited collaborative opportunities for the government and commercial sectors.

Other ITS systems and solutions showcased include :

Laser Speed Detection System is also a part of the cetrac® Traffic Enforcement Solution, this system utilises proven laser technology to provide reliable performance and operational ease of use for speed detection and enforcement of violation vehicles. Its pin-pointing targeting capability, high accuracy range, rapid setup time and ability to provide high resolution images with watermarking feature makes it a great choice for traffic authorities.

cetrac® Wireless Mesh Sensor Network for ITS
The Wireless Mesh Sensor Network, one of ST Electronics’ Telematics solutions, enables sensors from vehicles and roadside infrastructures to be connected in an intelligent mesh network configuration, providing bi-directional, real-time transmission of traffic information. It allows for vehicle-to-vehicle communication and vehicle-to-roadside infrastructure communication.

cetrac® i-Transport
i-Transport is an advanced large scale transportation system where mechanisms or processes are developed to fully integrate existing Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) into a unified, intelligent and interactive operations platform.  This platform facilitates integrated traffic monitoring, equipment control, incident management, traffic analysis and operational studies.

cetrac® iCab
cetrac® iCab is an automated taxi booking and despatch system which allows different taxi fleet companies to share a common system while maintaining their business independence and identity. It integrates infocommunication technology, including wireless technology, automated booking and intelligent data mining, to despatch the most suitably available taxi to customers in the shortest possible time.

This system addresses the needs of various stakeholders, including commuters, taxi drivers and taxi operators. For the commuters, the increase in automation results in shorter waiting time and taxi operators are able to cater more jobs to meet the demand. For the drivers, better matching of booking jobs translates to more income for them. The use of text-to-speech technology and map services enhances safety and convenience to the drivers. For the operator, the increase in automation and productivity leads to increase in operating efficiency, customer service level and profits for the company.

cetrac® iTrack
cetrac® iTrack enables real-time monitoring and control management of vehicles essential to fleet operators who are keen to optimise their resources, enhance their operating efficiency and customer service levels. This system applies leading innovations and seamless integration software and vehicle devices, GPS, GIS and mobile communication technologies. It is ideal for companies involved in logistics, transportation, delivery/courier services, security/safety operations and the management of multiple vehicles.

cetrac® Tunnel Management Solution
STEE-InfoComm provides a one-stop tunnel management solution designed to enhance traffic and incident management in tunnels. The solution provides the highest level of security, safety and convenience to tunnel users as well as increased operating efficiency to transport authorities. The solution covers the following areas: Automatic Incident Detection (AID), Traffic Surveillance, Remote monitoring and control, Variable Message Sign, Speed Enforcement, Automated traffic data collection, Plant equipment monitoring and FM Rebroadcast and Break-in System.

cetrac® Highway & Arterial Road Management Solution
Suitable for Highway & Arterial Road Management. This solution covers the following areas: Junction Management, Traffic Light Control, Automatic Incident Detection (AID), Traffic Surveillance, Remote monitoring and control, Variable Message Sign, Speed Enforcement and Automated traffic data collection.

Harbour Craft Identification & Monitoring System (HMS)
HMS is a cost-effective and efficient tracking solution that enables authorities and agencies to identify, monitor and track vessels and harbour crafts around coastal waters. Based on Global Positioning System (GPS) and General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) technologies, the onboard front-end transponder units sends real-time information such as craft ID, geographical location/position, course, speed etc, to the monitoring/control center via existing Telco shore-based infrastructure. The HMS empowers maritime and port authorities with greater real-time visibility over vessels, thereby enabling them to make better, more informed decisions faster for preventive measures and emergency response.

Digital Watermarking Solution
Digital cameras are rapidly replacing film-based photography in traffic enforcement. Digital images, however, are open to tampering with the wide availability of image editing software. This presents a significant challenge to the admissibility of these images as evidence for prosecution. DataMark Technologies provides a proven digital watermarking solution to meet this challenge. The solution integrates with traffic camera systems to embed an invisible watermark with relevant information (e.g. date/time, device ID, location) into the digital images. The watermark is resistant to image distribution and editing, thus preserving key data. Any illicit tampering of the image can also be detected with the area of modification identified. This ensures the integrity and authenticity of the images for evidentiary purposes.

ST Electronics, the electronics arm of ST Engineering, delivers innovative system solutions to government, commercial, defence, and industrial customers worldwide.  With presence in more than 18 countries and 28 cities, ST Electronics markets its solutions to more than 70 countries internationally.  It specialises in the design, development and integration of advanced electronics and information communications systems (ICT), such as broadband radio frequency and satellite communication, e-Government solutions, information communications technologies and IT, rail and traffic management, real-time command & control, training and simulation, intelligent building management, and information security and mobile commerce solutions.
