ST Electronics Wins S$98m Contract
From LTA To Enhance EMAS Equipment
Singapore, 26 April 2012 — Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited (ST Electronics) today announced that it has been awarded a S$98m contract by Singapore's Land Transport Authority (LTA) to enhance the Expressway Monitoring & Advisory System (EMAS) equipment along eight expressways in Singapore. The contract is awarded to ST Electronics' wholly-owned subsidiary, ST Electronics (Info-Comm Systems).
The enhancement project will ensure that EMAS can continue to function as an important traffic and incident management tool. The existing EMAS equipment which was launched in 1998 is reaching the end of their service life. Starting in May 2012, the enhancement will be carried out progressively and is expected to be completed by 2017.
The existing EMAS signboards along expressways will be enhanced to be more graphic-enabled to display more information on incidents. The contract will also include the installation of additional surveillance and incident detection cameras as well as web-cameras to provide motorists with more comprehensive traffic images. Motorists can access these images via LTA's One.Motoring website or My Transport.SG mobile application.
"ST Electronics is delighted to be awarded this contract to enhance the EMAS equipment. This will add to our extensive track record in providing intelligent transportation systems to Singapore as well the overseas markets."
LEE Fook Sun

It also implemented various systems for LTA such as the i-Transport and Junction Electronics Eyes (J-Eyes) systems.
The award of this contract is not expected to have any material impact on the consolidated net tangible assets per share and earnings per share of ST Engineering for the current financial year.
